About Me

Portrait Poem

Katherine

Friendly, energetic, awesome, and responsible,

Sister of Teddy and Sarah,

Lover of dogs, rain, and God,

Who feels sleep is wonderful, onions are nasty, and faith is important,

Who needs running water, electricity, and people,

Who gives something to laugh at, loyalty, and honesty,

Who fears the dark, she is getting to old too fast, and

Would like to see a miracle, me graduate from college, and Australia,

Resident of Boone, NC

Hi Everyone,

My name is Katherine Odgers and I am a student in Omer Ari’s Reading 3030 class.  I am now a junior and very excited to be in block I.  I have heard that it is a lot of work, but I am mostly excited because we are now in the main classes of our major.  I have always wanted to be an elementary teacher ever since I was little.

I grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina and I loved it.  I was not too far from the beach or the Mountains.  It is the capital of North Carolina so there were plenty of things that you can do.  Personally I just love to relax and spend time with my family and friends.  That is why I love getting the opportunity to go home over break.  None of my good friends from home came with me to college so I have had to meet new people.  I love my friends here at school and I am thankful that I have been able to create a home away from home.  I love this town and all of the people that live here.

I am looking forward to this class and this semester.  If anyone has any questions you are more than free to leave them in the comment box.

  1. Kate,
I really enjoyed reading your poems. The “Obedient” verb caught my eye. That’s something that you don’t see very often on a college student’s list of descriptions. I really respect that.

  2. You did a great job with both of your poems. I had also, heard that Block I was going to be a lot of work. However, I’m looking foward to getting better prepared to be an elemntary school teacher.

  3. Katie, I love your two poems! haha I feel the opposite of there being lots of things to do in Raleigh..maybe it’s becuase I am so use to it, but who knows!

  4. Kate, I enjoyed reading your about me section. I also love living near Raleigh because it is so close to both the mountains and the beach.

  5. Kate, I truly loved reading your page! From reading your poem I learned alot of things about you and I know you are a great person and I am very thankful to have met you. I love going to visit at Raleigh because of the many things to do there as well!

  6. Kate, I love your poems, and your a-wkward! I used the same word. I am so glad that you love Boone, because most people get so bored with it. I love Boone too!

  7. Kate! I liked your autobiography paragraph. I also came to a school without any of my high school friends. I did that on purpose so I would have to make new friends and break out of my box.

  8. I love that you have sleep, onions, and God in the same line haha! Awkward and Silly…I can relate to those.

  9. I hate onions too! I also would love to travel to Australia. Good job!

Thanks for sharing Kate. Are you planning to go to Australia? I’ve heard some great things about the country.
